So next week it’s May! Like where did the time go? Actually though it is starting to freak me out a little bit. Although I have to say I’m quite excited because of our holiday we have booked for May, so it means it’s that much closer. Only 3 weeks tomorrow actually and I’ll be reunited with my bestie, Dani! I can’t wait for all of the things we’re going to do together. We met at Ryerson University when we were both studying Fashion Design, which we both ended up leaving to do different degrees. Although it’s been ten years and quite a fair distance apart we are still best friends. One of our favourite things to do together was get our nails done and I can’t wait to do that again. Plus get coffee, walk the city and just catch up. You can only say so much on FaceTime I find so a full week together is going to be perfect! I am already planning all the outfits I’m going to wear, there is something so fun about dressing up for a week in the city!
Last weekend I channeled one of my favourite Easter chocolates and wore these pink pants for a little lunch date with Dave. It was one of those fresh Spring days where you don’t need to wear a jacket in the afternoon as the sun is starting to heat things up. It makes me excited for summer dressing! We tried out this little french cafe on Cook Street close to North Park called Joie Cafe. They specialize in crepes and it was really delicious! I had a savoury crepe with spinach and portobello mushrooms, plus some really delicious and oozing cheese. Dave had a croque monsieur and that was a lot of cheese! It was nice to find a new spot not too far from our house and the owners were really lovely, I’ll definitely be going back for a visit.
We had a really nice Easter weekend even if mine wasn’t a long weekend. We fit a number of activities into the weekend so it sort of felt like a longer weekend to me! Saturday we walked upper and lower Thetis Lake in the beautiful sunshine. It had been ages since either of us had walked that lake and I realized just how close it is to our place so we are going to make a habit of it from now on. That night we had a delicious turkey filled dinner for Easter with my parents and a relaxing evening. After working early morning shifts at the bakery I find it almost impossible to sleep in on the weekends and woke up at 6am Saturday morning so by the evening I was beat! Sunday morning we headed back to my parents for delicious brunch and an Easter egg hunt, a tradition my mum still does for me even though I am in my 30’s now (I never want it to end!) That afternoon we drove up to Shawnigan to spend the day with our friends and have Easter dinner with a group of us. The weekend was filled with good food and even better company, my favourite kind of weekend!
