It feels like just yesterday I was writing to say how cold I was and was winter ever going to end? Well it did and Spring came to the island with a bang! It was 20+ degrees mid March and everyone started wearing shorts (not including me.) I know when it’s Spring for me, when I can wear a pair of shoes without socks, like these Marks & Spencer slides I bought last May while in London. It is such an amazing feeling having the sun on your face and feeling warm enough to go out without a jacket on. Everyone’s moods instantly change and you can see it on people’s faces. Everything also becomes easier. Running errands after work because it’s light out, running outside and not worrying about it getting dark before you make it home. Spring gives off this sort of energy that has been hibernating throughout Winter and I definitely can feel it!
Although hilariously that being said, I got a Spring cold this week. I usually get one cold a year around the holidays and man did that knock me out this year. I thought I was in the clear but something hit me hard at the end of last weekend and I was struggling at work this whole past week. Luckily I kicked it within two days, loads of liquids and extra sleep seemed to do the trick but now I’m looking after a sick Dave. I blamed it on over relaxing last weekend while we were in Tofino. I’m not blaming it on Tofino but I firmly believe that because we all make ourselves so busy with work and working out and just life that we end up running on fumes but don’t realize it. However, the second you end up relaxing on holiday (I find,) your body is like ok now we aren’t so busy it’s time for you to realize what you have done to us. We had the BEST time in Tofino and honestly felt more relaxed then we have in a long time but we both ended up sick. I guess it isn’t the worst thing though. I listened to my body and sort of strayed away from my computer and phone more, opting for cuddles on the couch watching TV and going to bed early.
I guess what I am saying is that it’s good to listen to your body once in awhile! Something I still find hard to do. Even though it is Spring and we all have more energy and more plans, remember you have to slow down once and awhile. I am always trying to remind myself of that, it probably should have been a New Years Resolution of mine actually! I can’t wait to share our trip to Tofino on the blog next week! We stayed in the most beautiful little boutique hotel and did all our favourite things, I really miss that town! It won’t be long till we’re back though!
