Two weekends ago we had the chance to go up to Whistler with our friends Emma and Mac. Emma and I have been friends since we were 16, so funny to think back to then. We met at a friend’s birthday party and we hit it off pretty quickly. We played field hockey together for a few years and remained friends even after high school despite not living in the same city for years. Two years ago she married her lovely hubby Mac and Dave and him became fast friends after that. Whenever they’re on the island we try to get together for coffee or brunch and this year we finally made it up to visit them in Whistler! It is quite the way to go for the weekend but we had such a great trip. Mac and Dave went snowboarding on the Saturday, while Emma and I spent the day at the Scandinave Spa. If you haven’t been you HAVE to go, it is simply amazing. As Emma put it, ‘no naps Jennee’ had two naps at the spa. It’s a sort of hot and cold pool spa with steam rooms and saunas as well as solariums. The point is to have a relaxing day while giving your body and your mind a break. It is completely silent and no phones are allowed and honestly this should be something we have in multiple cities. It is what everyone needs in their life and although it was quite expensive it was definitely worth it.
While we were at the spa and the boys were on the mountain the weather was perfect. Sunshine and blue skies all around. The day we left the temperature dropped and we were freezing! When we went for a quick breakfast of pastries and coffees at Purebread it was minus 12! Luckily we got seats inside and I enjoyed sitting and watching how this delicious bakery worked. If you are in Whistler I highly recommend visiting Purebread, it is to die for! The baking is amazing and their coffees are perfect! Since opening their first location in Whistler they have since opened three more locations in Vancouver, which I have to say I want to try too!
After back to back weekends away, Dave and I were pretty happy to have a weekend at home to start working away at our place. We recently moved into our new place, a basement suite in our friends house in Victoria. After moving in we headed off to Europe and didn’t really get a chance to properly organize our space. One of my New Year Goals (not resolutions) was to find the time on the weekends to dedicate to our place. It’s really hard to do when you work all week and then on the weekend you want to enjoy it! However, this past weekend in Victoria it snowed and while I write this it’s a snow day again so it is the perfect opportunity to get organizing. I’m looking forward to having our space feel less cluttered and more organized so it really feels like home when we come home at the end of the day. Wish us luck!
