Life has been kind of hectic lately and I haven’t been able to find the time to write my blog posts much, which I hate. Writing these posts are my kind of self-care you could say. I love writing them and I don’t actually know how many people read them but it doesn’t matter to me. So I guess I will fill you in on life a bit. I started a new job four weeks ago that I quickly realized was not for me. I know a month isn’t very long to give a job a try but I like to think that when I know, I know. Everyone really wanted me to give it more of a go but I couldn’t honestly do that to myself. So I gave my notice and luckily my boss was very understanding. Of course it was a horribly awkward situation and I still feel really bad about it but I had to be honest with myself. I guess after turning 30 and moving back to Victoria I sort of looked at my life and re-evaluated it in a way.
I was really happy to be working in a gallery while living in Ucluelet because I finally felt like I was applying my studies to work, which is hard to do after studying Art History. However, when I came back to Victoria I sort of felt like I was lost again and wanted to work in the field. Needless to say, this new job did not fulfill this hole in my heart, like I had hoped and so I am starting another new job next week at a bakery. As you probably already know from reading this blog and following my Instagram, I love baking and I really hope to make a career out of it one day. My dream would be to open up a bakery one day and I think working at a small bakery will teach me some really important skills. So I guess what I am trying to say is going into the end of my year as 30, soon to be 31, I feel like I am sort of still figuring stuff out for myself, so if anyone else is feeling like this don’t feel discouraged.
These photos are from last month when we were staying in North Vancouver for Skookum Music Festival. Before we headed to the festival for a day of music we walked down to Lift Bakery for a delicious brunch and took some photos in this fun and bright alleyway. For brunch I wanted to be cute and comfortable and since it wasn’t raining I was able to rock my new white boots. This has been a trend I have been watching for over a year now and decided to take the plunge and get a pair myself and I’m so glad I did because I love them! They have a real Western feel to them, another trend in boots at the moment. I wore them with my favourite pair of jeans from Topshop and a sweater my sister left behind this summer from Topshop. I love the colours of the sweater and have been wearing it so much since my sister left to go back to Thailand, so thank you T! I thought this look was perfect for this alleyway next to the bakery to take some cute outfit shots.
