We moved the last weekend of July from Ucluelet and since then I don't think I have had a moment to sit still. Sorry I have been so quiet on here, I am trying to get back into a routine of sorts, which is proving a little more difficult than I thought. I am loving every day though since my sister and her husband are still in town but it is a little manic. We moved back down to Victoria on Sunday afternoon, unpacked all our stuff into my parents basement and Dave and I went straight back to work on the Monday. Luckily for me it was only a half day because my sister and I were heading to Vancouver. I know it's a little crazy to go from Ucluelet, to Victoria, to Vancouver in 24 hours but it had to be done! I am so glad I did it too because it was so nice to spend some time with my sister, just the two of us!
We only had 24 hours in Vancouver so it was jam packed but we had a great time! We arrived in the late afternoon at our hotel to check in, drop our bags off and head back out! We had things to do, places to see and people to see too! Our first stop was of course Topshop, where I picked up some great bits. I don't know about you but I have the hardest time finding a pair of shorts. However, I got lucky and picked up a pair of black shorts I just can't get enough of. I have been wearing them every chance I get, I'll post them on here soon enough! I also picked up a beautiful blue blouse and the best simple grey sweater. I know the weather is far from sweater weather but it's a great layering piece for the evenings. Next we headed to Urban Outfitters. I was on the hunt for a onesie for a music festival I am going to in September, but had no luck! I did however find this beautiful dress I am wearing here in this post. I absolutely love this style with the collar and button down front. It is casual enough to wear with sneakers and a backpack like I did here, but I can also see myself dressing it up or wearing it with layers in the fall. I have worn it so much already as the weather seems like it won't be cooling off anytime soon!
Right across the street from Urban Outfitters is my favourite sushi place in Vancouver, ShuRaku Sake Bar & Bistro. My sister wanted sushi before she headed back to Thailand so we had some delicious rolls, edamame, gomae and these 'eggplant poppers' that are to die for. Every time I visit I am always very happy with the food. Even though it was the evening, it was still so hot out! There was a serious heatwave going on in Vancouver, but I was NOT complaining because I had been wearing jeans all summer up in Ucluelet. We went back to the hotel for a quick change and touch up before we met up with my sister's friend Caroline. I had seen this ice cream shop on Instagram and showed my sister and she was just as excited to try it as me. So we walked over to Yaletown to meet up with her friend for ice cream. I'll be sharing the delicious photos of our ice cream soon, so stay tuned!
We had our ice cream in this park by the Yaletown Roundhouse skytrain station, but it was too dark to take photos. So the next morning after we had brunch and before we had to leave to catch the ferry we went back to take these photos under the beautiful umbrellas. I love how Vancouver has art installations like this. It brings such life to a city and it was so beautiful watching the umbrellas move in the wind. If you find yourself in Vancouver I would definitely head over to Yaletown to check them out, plus there's loads of delicious restaurants and beautiful shops along the way!
