When the sun shines and a new restaurant pops up in town you sit and enjoy it. A few weeks ago was Dave and my 3 year anniversary. It's such a funny feeling when you feel like you've always been with the person. We celebrated with our friends Dani and Michael, who were visiting from Toronto. It was sort of an anniversary of sorts with them too, they were here a year ago at the end of June too. So we weren't only celebrating our relationship but also our friendship with our friends. It was such a fun evening that resulted in all of us eating way too much!
I have only lived in Tofino and Ucluelet for a year and a half, however, sometimes I feel like a real local. Maybe it's because the friends I have hung out with in my time here have really rubbed off on me. When a new restaurant opens in town, people get excited, and I am one of them! The food in Tofino is sublime, people come from all over the world to eat here. From Wolf in the Fog, to Kuma and Sobo, just to name a few of my favourites, there is something for everyone. However, a little casual restaurant was missing from Tofino's delicious line up of good eats. When the owners of Shelter opened up a second restaurant, Shed, I wasn't sure what to expect. I didn't want it to be the same as Shelter, which is good but I wanted something new and they delivered. Shed is a delicious take on an old school diner. They have 4 burgers available to choose from, that all come with their delicious fries! They also have salads and bowls available for those who want a healthy choice. The restaurant will also be serving breakfast and brunch soon, which Tofino really needs (spoken like a true 'Victorian,' who loves all brunch food.)
As we sat on the porch with the sun beating down on us I couldn't help but smile, surrounded by Dave, my best friend and her husband. Dani took over as photographer for the evening and captures such great shots of our evening and my outfit. It was sunny but typical of Tofino it wasn't very warm. I wore a button up blouse from Zara. When my mum and I finished walking the Camino we decided to treat ourselves to a shopping trip to Zara (they are always better in Spain.) I loved this top because it reminded me of a denim shirt, however, in the most beautiful light pink. I tucked it into my black 'Mom' style jeans from Topshop and paired it with my favourite accessories, two of which were new! Dave spoiled me on our anniversary by giving me a pair of Machete earrings that I had been dreaming about for months. However, he didn't stop there, he also bought me a Market Canvas leather bag. This was something I was planning on buying once we left Tofino as a sort of memory of our time here, and I was ecstatic when he gave it to me! I kept up the neutral accessories with my favourite pair of shoes from Marks & Spencer I bought while in London and haven't taken off since. I thought the whole outfit needed something else so I decided to top it off with my baker boy hat from Free People I love.
When I wear an outfit like this one I feel so confident because it's not only fashionable but also something I could wear anywhere at any time. This new bag from Market Canvas is going to be a staple in my wardrobe, I can already feel it. It holds so much and I love the unique shape of the bag. Although I often wear brands like Topshop, River Island and Zara, I love supporting small, unique brands like Market Canvas. This brand is a one woman show, the designer designs the bags, as well as builds them by hand. No two bags are the same and are made of 100% natural leather. If you ever find yourself in Tofino be sure to check out her bags at The Factory in Tofino, but also check out her website: https://marketcanvasleather.com/. The bags are available at many shops in Tofino and Ucluelet as well as throughout British Columbia and Alberta. I'm sure that you will love Market Canvas pieces as much as I do!
After filling up on delicious food at The Shed, I had a bowl that came with roasted butternut squash, kale, farro and so many more vegetables. While the others opted for burgers, I got to taste their delicious fries too. We decided we weren't full enough and had a craving for something sweet. It was both a bad and good idea to go get ice cream at Tofino Licks after dinner. The ice cream was delicious as always, however, we all ended up WAY too full. Oh well, it really was the perfect summer evening. Dinner on a patio surrounded by your loved ones followed by a walk to the ice cream shop and delicious ice cream. What more could you ask for?
