It feels like an eternity ago I was walking through London enjoying the amazing sunshine. I've been back for almost two weeks now and I feel like I never left! How does this always happen when you go on holiday? We were so lucky to have the best weather in London because more often then not the weather is similar to Vancouver Island, grey and rainy. I picked the perfect day to take my mum into London to explore wherever we wanted and we did just that. Often I find when I visit a city I haven't been to in awhile I have an itinerary of where we need to go and what we need to do. This beautiful day was a balance of both and in the end just what I wanted. I didn't take as many photos as I would have hoped to but sometimes that's better. I know I document my life on here but sometimes it can be quite exhausting taking shot after shot of my outfit or my meal or where I'm traveling. So this is more of a compilation of photos me and my mum took during our day of adventuring in my favourite city in the world!
We began the day in the most perfect way (in my opinion,) at Topshop at Oxford Circus. It is the biggest in the world and what I think heaven would be like for me. They have a brow bar, a hair salon, a nail bar and even a cafe within it. It doesn't just carry Topshop items but vintage pieces and many other brands. It is a few floors and that can be intimidating to some but not for me. Luckily my mum knows about my addiction to shopping and she is the best perfect to go with because she gives her honest opinion. She also holds all my clothes as I walk around choosing the next piece. I bought some fabulous pink trousers, a midi dress, a pair of sandals and an amazing bag for summer. I'll be sharing all my new pieces with you all soon!
After an hour at Topshop (I set myself an alarm,) we walked over to the National Gallery. Every time I am in London I book tickets to see an art exhibition and I had booked tickets to see Monet's Architecture exhibit months ago. It was very busy, which is annoying but understandable. However, we thoroughly enjoyed the exhibition and I'll share my favourite pieces on the blog soon! After we had immersed ourselves in some culture we headed to afternoon tea with my cousin Michelle. She booked us in at Fortnum & Mason and it was a treat! I share pictures last week of tea time, something I hope to do again next time I'm in London!
Once we were good and full and a little tipsy off of champagne we decided we needed to walk it off. What better way to do so than walking through some of London's gorgeous parks and gardens. It was a hot afternoon but that didn't stop us from walking around for over an hour. It was simply the perfect afternoon. It was so lovely not having to rush to do the next thing but instead talk and walk with my mum. I know we had done quite a bit of walking on this holiday already (245km for the Camino,) but we were happy to get out again. Coming from an Italian background the amount of food I consume when I'm in London visiting my family is insane. So we needed to take every chance we could for some exercise! Our final plans of the day was visiting my oldest friend, Andrea, for an Indian meal on Brick Lane. It was absolutely delicious! Afterwards we went for a walk around the Shoreditch area and it was so enjoyable looking at all the street art. Truly a day to remember!
