One of my goals for the New Year was to get outside more. This isn't a problem for Dave who is often outside for work. However, for me I work inside and commute almost an hour on each side so getting outside is a little bit harder some days. I love running outside but throughout the Winter and particularly rainy Spring it has been hard at times. This past weekend we drove to Port Alberni to run some errands and on our drive back we decided to make a stop for a walk in the forest close to Kennedy Lake. It had been pouring our whole drive back so when the sun finally showed through the clouds we decided we had to get out.
Dave is always really in his element in the wild, unlike me. I get worried about wildlife and nervous that there's no service but that never comes to mind for him. It's great to be pushed out of your comfort zone and I'm so glad we got to explore down this dirt road. The colours of the forest were mesmerizing. There were so many different shades of green that when he began shooting photos of me the colours I was wearing popped out so much against the backdrop of pure green.
As I have been dwindling down my wardrobe I am being forced to look at pieces I have had for some time and seeing how I can wear them differently. This corduroy pinafore dress from Topshop has been in my closet for probably over 3 years now. It is a dress I always lean towards, especially in the winter but in the spring I can sometimes get away without wearing it with tights. I decided to wear it with a denim shirt I got last year in London from another favourite British shop, River Island. I had never worn them together and I really liked what they looked like together and will definitely be wearing it again. The outfit was made a little more casual with my go-to Nike sneakers and I borrowed one of Dave's toques. I love mixing outfits with different pieces to make them look new again.
