I met Abbey in Italian class in my undergrad, so a few years ago now. We were paired up for a project and we both didn't know anyone else in the class. After talking for awhile we quickly realized we were doing the same major, Art History, and were actually in almost all the same classes. This quickly bloomed into a great friendship, one that is still going strong today. Abbey is not only a great friend that is so smart and inspiring in her work but also one of the most stylish women I know. Not only did we bond over our love of art but we bonded over our love of all things fashion. Needless to say I feel like she has inspired some of outfits over the years, this one especially. She has been wearing a great pair of overalls for awhile now and I have been on the search to find the perfect pair and I finally did!
This past weekend I was in Vancouver with Dave and my parents for a weekend away. It was nice to go to the city and get inspired again. We were there for just over 24 hours but I managed to cram as much as possible in, as I do whenever I go anywhere. We went to the Vancouver Art Gallery, Topshop, Sushi, a Canucks game, drinks with friends and the next morning for brunch before heading back to the island. I wore this outfit to visit the art gallery with my mum and we ran into Abbey, what were the chances! She immediately complemented me on my outfit because she had worn pretty much the same thing the day before. (Great minds think alike!)
I bought these overalls at Free People when Dave and I were visiting Portland a few weeks ago for my birthday and I am in love with them! They are so fun and easy to wear and immediately make any outfit look a little more on trend. I am already planning on wearing them with cute summer blouses in a couple months and mules. But for now I am layering them with turtlenecks for warmth and booties. Overalls seem to be coming back, it has been a slow trickle on the fashion scene but I think this year we will be seeing a lot more of them.
