I know I may be a bit of a nerd when it comes to TV shows but I am still loving Riverdale. If you haven't watched it you won't understand my love of Jughead (I share this love with many of my girlfriends.) He is the cool, sort of 'bad boy' of the show and dresses the part. He is often sporting a denim jacket with a shearling collar or a plaid jacket in a similar style. As I continued watching Riverdale I was convinced I had to have one of Jughead's jackets. I remember when they were popular when I was living in Toronto 10 years ago. My old roommate and I were out shopping in Kensington Market and she found a vintage denim jacket with shearling that she quickly scooped up. I wasn't so sure of the trend then but I am now!
I picked this vintage Levi's denim and shearling jacket up a few weeks ago in Ucluelet at Gypsy Drifter. This local shop carries everything from vintage, to new clothes, skin care, houseware and even baby gifts. I was on a walk with Dave looking for cards for some friends and we stopped in at Gypsy Drifter to have a look. I saw the jacket and knew it was meant to be. I had my eye on one in February at Topshop while we were in Vancouver but I decided to leave it since it was a little expensive. I am so glad I did! Because this vintage Levi's jacket is so much better and such a unique find. I tried it on and bought it immediately since she didn't have any more at the shop. It is so warm and cozy but I can easily see it working as a piece that will shift into spring. I can't wait to wear it over a little floral dress and sneakers. For now I will be wearing it with jeans, a little Canadian tuxedo always looks good if done right. Here I paired it with a t-shirt I got in Thailand at Chatachuk Market, a plaid shirt from Aerie and black distressed jeans from American Eagle. A very 90's outfit and heavily inspired by Jughead's wardrobe. What are your thoughts on this recurring trend?
