Wow it is December 2nd and I have not written a blog post all week! Seriously this time of year is so busy! I’m not complaining though because I love this time of year. It has been a whirlwind weekend but it has also been so much fun. On Friday night my friend and I went on a date to see the Nutcracker danced by the Winnipeg Ballet, it was beautiful. I am not normally a big fan of ballets, however, it was really well done and the dancing was phenomenal. Saturday was spent with my mum and family friends having a Christmas brunch since we will be away for the holidays this year. Brunch was followed by pedicures and shopping, all in all a very fun and successful day. I had a gel pedicure done so my toes look nice all through our trip, I chose a beautiful rose gold that shimmers, very appropriate for the holidays! Last night we visited our friends new home in Shawnigan Lake and had dinner and got to spend time with some friends we hadn’t seen for awhile, it was great! Today is also jam packed but I’m looking forward to seeing one of my oldest best friends, who I haven’t seen since September long weekend! We are having brunch together with our families and hopefully going to get a good catch up in! It’s also my cousin’s birthday today so I am bringing over some delicious lemon, raspberry cupcakes (soon to be on the blog!) Wow I feel tired just typing out that busy weekend, but we have to get it all in before we head on our holiday, in 12 days!!!
I can’t believe our trip has come up so quickly! My mum and sister both keep asking me packing questions or sending me photos of their packing piles, it’s making me jealous! I love packing. I have literally thrown in all the gifts I’m bringing over and a few things I wasn’t planning on wearing before the trip. I think this week I will lay it all out properly to see what I have. When I’m packing I like to look at the outfits and see if they can be remixed and worn with something else in the bag, or else I just pack way too much, which I have been guilty of in the past! Plus I want to look fashionable in Europe, so I have to plan accordingly, how many shoes are too many shoes? I can’t wait to share photos on Instagram of our trip then some blog posts when I get home! We have so many fun things planned!
My zia (aunt in Italian) wrote the recipe out for me before I left London last time because my mum, dad and I were all telling her how much we enjoyed it. She also tried to send us on the plane with a whole banana cake, we said thank you then cut three pieces to take with us because a whole cake is a bit much (Italians!) The recipe is in Italian, but I love that because it makes me practice reading in Italian more. I’ll translate it here for the blog though.
1 cup vegetable oil
2 cups sugar (I would put 1 1/2 cups because it can be quite sweet)
3 cups flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 - 1 cup nuts (I use walnuts)
Mix together in bowl.
Bake at 350 or 25 minutes or until cooked in centre and browned.
It is a delicious recipe, especially if you’re like me and have a lot of brown bananas in your freezer you need to use up! Hope you enjoy making it, it is so easy and good!
