Botanical Gardens
A few weeks back now Dave's parents and my parents came to visit us for the long weekend. As both sets had already been to Tofino we wanted to show them something new. We settled on the Botanical Gardens just outside of the centre of Tofino. The Botanical Gardens is made up of different paths and boardwalks that take you from the cafe and gift shop to the community gardens, into the forest where pocket gardens, art installations and garden buildings can be found. With my dad leading the pack (he is not a slow walker) we began our trip through the maze of paths discovering numbers along the way marking the places to read about on our pamphlet/map. At one point we took a path down to the seaside which looked out on the small islands in the inlet of Tofino. Although it was a grey day we made the most of it and luckily there was no sign of rain. After we took in the gardens we stopped into Darwin's Cafe. We all decided on our signature warm drinks and sat around a large wooden table enjoying each others company. If you stop into the cafe and are feeling rather peckish they offer a wide variety of snacks and meals, which all looked quite delicious but we were saving ourselves for lunch at home. Next time you're in Tofino be sure to stop at the Botanical Gardens, a definite must for tourists and locals alike!
