Last weekend my parents came to visit, our first visitors of the year! The day they arrived was beautiful and sunny. We walked Wickaninnish Beach for almost two hours, then decided we deserved to treat ourselves with some ice cream from Chocolate Tofino. People had been telling me how delicious their ice cream was and I finally had the chance to put it to the test. They were right! It was absolutely delicious!
Chocolate Tofino has been around since 2003. They make hand-crafted chocolates made with high quality and fresh ingredients. Some of their specialties are their Organic Lavender Truffle, Wildflower Honey Ganache and Wild Blackberry Buttercream. Their chocolates aren't the only thing made in house, so is their ice cream and sorbet.
Dave chose to taste the Dutch Chocolate Gelato, rich and chocolatey, each bite you could taste the high quality cocoa they used. While my dad opted for his favourite flavour, Pistachio, made from Italian pistachios, it was creamy and delicious. I chose my favourite flavour too, Stracciatella, which is a combination of sweet cream, vanilla beans and dark chocolate flecks throughout. I could not put my cup down! However, my mum decided to really go for it, and got Salted Caramel Sundae in a waffle bowl with chocolate on the bottom, Salted Caramel Gelato, topped with chocolate shavings and a dark chocolate surfboard. We all tasted each others and each flavour was just as good as the next. If you find yourself in Tofino this summer, definitely try Chocolate Tofino out for their homemade gelato!
