When you move to a new place there is nothing better than discovering the best restaurants and coffee shops in town. A couple people I work with kept telling me how I had to try Sea Monster Noodle Bar on my lunch break that Dave and I finally made it there. Located at 421 Main Street, Tofino, BC, Sea Monster is a casual and delicious lunch and early dinner spot. As you enter the restaurant you look at the menu painted on the wall and try to make a decision before you make it to the counter to order. There isn't too much on the menu but enough to question what you think you should order. They have three types of food available at Sea Monster: Noodles, Poke and Steam Buns. Dave and I both wanted to try the Poke since we never had. Poke (pronounced poh-kay) is a bowl of either white or brown rice or vermicelli noodles. Each bowl comes with different ingredients within it. Dave chose the Octopus option which came with: onion, seaweed, avocado puree, cucumber, ginger-scallion, furifake & tobiko. I opted for the Black Bean Tofu: onion, seaweed, edamame, cucumber, ginger-scallion, furifake. Of course we both ate each others but they were both equally different and delicious. We have also tried the Steam Buns on another occasion, which were both mouth watering. I can't wait for our visitors in the summer months so we can go back and try the other flavours. A must visit when you're in Tofino.
