This blog post comes about 4 months late as I was organizing my photos but I had to post it because the brunch Dave and I had was absolutely delicious.
This past Christmas Dave and I flew to Ireland to spend the holidays with his family. The journey to Dublin was far too long but we made it in the end, with numerous layovers. No one likes to spend hours in an airport, especially after they have been travelling for almost 24 hours. However, this brunch spot Dave and I discovered in Gatwick airport made the 7 hour layover that much better (along with multiple naps). Airport food, in my opinion, is often very disappointing so when we had a delicious breakfast in a really cute restaurant I thought I had to tell my readers about it.
We had to wait about 15 minutes to be seated as it was a pretty popular spot, but it was well worth the wait. Dave ordered a typical full English breakfast, with sausage, bacon, beans, eggs and toast, while I ordered mashed avocado and toast with two poached eggs. The avocado on the side was easily two avocados and tasted perfect, especially with the poached eggs on top. We sat silently across from each other so happy to be eating real food and coffee. The decor was unique and kept me looking around the restaurant wondering where each person was going. I would definitely suggest The Grain Store next time you find yourself in Gatwick airport with a few hours to kill, even if it is just for a coffee and a pastry.
