This past weekend I was in Vancouver for a Canucks game and managed to sneak in some good food and shopping in between visiting family. Here are my favourite spots from the weekend
Day 1: Dave and I arrived in Vancouver Friday night after work and had a relaxing evening with his brother and family. We had some much needed cuddles with his niece who is absolutely gorgeous and who I can't wait to see in Whistler for our next adventure together.
Day 2: After a relaxing morning of homemade pancakes, recipe to come. Dave and I head downtown to get some delicious eats and Christmas shopping in before the Canucks vs. Blackhawks game. First stop was Tacofino, 15 W Cordova St. I know we have one here in Victoria but we wanted Tacos and stopped by their 'Burrito Bar' in Gastown where we had a quick shrimp burrito to give us some energy for shopping. Next stop was Frank + Oak, 316 W Cordova St. The first Frank + Oak I had been to was in Calgary when I visited this past June. It was originally a Men's clothing store, however, now they're carrying casual and unique womenswear. I definitely recommend everyone to visit the Gastown location, which not only has both Men's and Women's collections but also a barber in the back of the shop as well as a juice bar. We rushed around downtown, ducking in and out of shops until we met up with one Dave's friends from Dublin for a drink. For dinner we headed to my favourite sushi restaurant, Shuraku, 833 Granville St. Not only is it in a great location but it also has the most delicious and unique sushi I've ever had. My top picks are the eggplant poppers, gomaee, snow spider crab roll and pretty much anything else on the menu. Finally we were off to the game, which sadly the Canucks lost but it was fun none the less.
Day 3: We all had a lazy lie in Sunday morning before heading out to the River Market in New Westminster for a walk along the river and inside the market to look at some shops. The Great Wall Tea Co. is known for its delicious teas and I can't wait to go back to taste some of them, since all I managed was a photo of their immense tea collection.
Overall Dave and I had a wonderfully relaxing weekend, something we really needed in preparation for the holiday craziness that is coming!
